Buy/Protect/Sell (BPS) is one of the tools Maine Farmland Trust is using to conserve farmland when it is most vulnerable to development, or otherwise lost from its traditional agriculture role. MFT purchases the farm and then re-sells it to an interested farmer at “farmland value” (not “development value”) with an agriculture conservation easement in place. This not only protects the land for the future, but fosters agriculture as a viable sector in Maine’s economy today. Check out our current list of farms for sale through our BPS Program:
